The Little Growers Club at Streatham Common Community Garden offers young people aged 5 to 11 the chance to grow and cook their own healthy food. Each Little Grower is given their own plot look after between spring and autumn – they’ll be provided with seeds and tools, as well as lots of help and guidance from the SCCG team. We’re opening applications for the 2022 growing season – parents and guardians are asked to fill in our short application form by 21st March 2022.
We’ll prioritise local families who don’t have a garden or large growing space at home. Those who are invited to join the Little Growers Club for the 2022 growing season will be able to come to the garden every Sunday between April and the end of November (or as many Sundays as you are available). The community garden opens from 11am to 3pm on Sundays unless otherwise stated.
We have a range of online activity resources available that include how-to guides, recipes and cut-out and colour-in activities. These are free for all to download, even if you don’t live in Streatham! Perfect for wetter days and colder months.
The SCCG Little Growers project is funded by Higgidy until the end of 2023. Our first cohort of Little Growers joined us for the 2021 growing season and here are some photos of the fun they had.
